02 cav 2.2 hesitation or no start or just fine oil in airbox

02 Cav LS 2.2 ecotech 5spd. Sometimes car runs perfect, other times it hesitates really bad or just doesn't stay running. After sitting for a few hours it has trouble even starting but when trying to start after just turing off she's fine. No temp problems.

Advanced Auto parts store scanner says MAP sensor circuit low input. Cleared code and changed MAP but no difference and MAP code came back. Changed coil pack and spark plugs, fuel filter no difference.

Looked in air intake tube from air filter box to TB air box and found oily substance in tube ridges. Pulled air box around TB and found quite a bit more of the substance. The hose running from valve cover to TB air box (PCV) "release pressure hose" has NO filter on it at all nor is there one in the TB air box? Every other car I have seen has a filter on somewhere between valve cover and air box which keeps this oily stuff out of the air box. Also noticed the TB inlet was coated with oily substance.

Cleaned TB and entire TB air box and tube from air filter box with starter fluid. Car ran fine til I parked it and left it for about 15 min then went to leave again and wouldn't start for a while then finally started but had hesitation and is now repeating same issues though I did drive it home 7k with no issues. Go figure.

Could this excess oil in the TB airbox be a sign to a worse engine problem such as excessive ring blow by? I think not as car does not smoke and has good power when running fine.

Totally at a loss here Please advise as to what this issue could be and y the heck is there no PCV filter (does TB air box act as a resevoir for this stuff? sounds like stupid engineering).

test the pig tail for the map sensor. turn the ignition on, don't have the engine running. Test the + side of the terminal for voltage. If its there, and your 100% sure the map sensor is good, start looking for a bad ground in that circuit.

The crap on your TB is normal. The PCV valve is built into the valve cover, no filter and all that crap gets sucked into the black box above the TB and re-circulated into your motor to be burned up. Only way to stop that is put a breather filter off your VC or install and oil catch can. Did you clean you Idle air control valve too when you were cleaning your TB? That tends to be coated in the same black crap that coated your TB butterfly.
