Help!! Honda Accord 97 SRS DTS (Diagosis Trouble Code) 5-2, what does it mean?

My 97 Accord SRS light suddenly turned on and won't go off while driving. After resetting (MES) several times, the light came back on after each reset. Pull hte DTS and he code is 5 (long blink) 2 (short blink). Could some kind soul tell me what the code means or point me to the place where I can look up the code? your help is deeply appreciated

You can't get flashed DTC's from a '97 that I'm aware of. You need a scan tool to get OBDII trouble codes.

How are you resetting the MES? If the procedure is not correct, the light will be back each time you start the car. Is this the way you did it?

How to Clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes Without Scan Tool (SCS Connector):

2. Make sure the ignition switch is OFF.
   MES Connector

2. Connect the SCS service connector (A) to the MES connector (2 pin) (B). Do not use a jumper wire.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON).
4. The SRS indicator light will come on for about six seconds, and then go off. Remove the SCS service connector from the MES connector (2 pin) within four seconds after the light goes off.
5. The SRS indicator light will come on again. Reconnect the SCS service connector to the MES connector (2 pin) within four seconds after the light comes on.
6. When the SRS indicator light goes off, remove the SCS service connector from the MES connector (2 pin) within four seconds .
7. The SRS indicator light will blink two times indicating that the memory has been erased.
8. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and wait for ten seconds.
   
   The timing has to be pretty precise or it doesn't reset.

Yes, your procedure was exactly how I reset the MES. The SRS light would blink twice at the end but then the light would come back on. I did it many times so I know the process worked.

Apparantly there is a way to get SRS DTC flash code from Accord 97. Please refer to http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread/1422442 thread. I carried out the procedue and it worked too. Now i need to decipher what the code means. Any help is deeply appreciated.
