To the Drawing board

Alright, this is the deal. I have a 86 CRX with a D16Z6 in it. This is for a circle dirt track so I took everything out other than the bare necessities. It has: z6, 4g EX tranny, hybrid z6/1g axles, OBD1 Engine/dash harness, p28, 8 Gal. Fuel Cell with OEM fuel pump and filter. The wire harness was stripped of both fuse boxes, main relay, ignition components(basically just the engine sensors less temp sensor and oil sensor..running gauges).

This is the problem: After 3-4 laps(1/2 mile track) at full throttle basically, it starts cutting out. First the alternator wasn't working so I thought that was it..fixed that, still happened. Put more fuel in just in case I didn't have enough in there, still happened. Had the fuel cell set up like this: 3 bungs on top(1 return line, 1 fill vent, 1 is plugged), 1 bung on Right rear corner for fuel pick up, and 1 big one for the fill. I thought it could have been building up pressure in the cell so I pulled the hose for the fill vent...still happened, but not as quickly. If it happens and I get a chance to ease off of it for a little bit, it will go back to normal...but I can't count on having cautions at the moment I need them for this.

Any ideas? OEM fuel pump and filter were meant for FI and are high pressure. Oh yea, hottest the car has got is 180, most of the time it sits at 160.

Re: To the Drawing board

Alright, the 2 possibilities I can think of at the moment: Tranny side ground, currently only have the valve cover ground and the rear mount is solid, metal on metal so that is acting as a ground as well, but there is just a little amount of play there where it can loose contact. And the Purge valve. Since I installed the fuel cell, I got rid of the charcoal canister, but still have the red line off the throttle body and the vacuum line on the Purge valve I don't know what I need to do with them other than plug them?

That ground is a good idea. Have you swapped out the fuel filter? How big is the bung on the right rear corner?? Is there a possibility it's not big enough? Have you tried anything with your fuel pressure regulator??

Re: To the Drawing board

Car is scratched for the dirt track. Last time I took it out I took care of the ground and Purge solenoid and it never cut out, but I didn't get the normal laps in before my axle flew apart on me again.

Gonna take custom axles...custom axles is too much for a dirt track. So now its my toy
