1993 Buick Lesabre Front Powered seats not working

The front driver and passenger side power seats have stopped working and completely do not work anymore no matter what I press on both doors. I have checked the fuses and relays under the hood and inside the car but everything looks okey. How can this be fixed?

Re: 1993 Buick Lesabre Front Powered seats not working

Well, you need to determine what is wrong. One, is it the power/ground to your seat switches? Two, is it the seat switches? Three, is it the wiring between your seat switches and seat motors (do you have power and correct ground at the motors)? Four, is it the motors themselves? Check these four things and you'll have your answer.

To save yourself some trouble, you could skip ahead to step three and check whether there is power at the motors when you use the switches. If not, you can use jumpers to bypass the switch and see if the motors still work (I suspect it is not your motors as it is unlikely BOTH motors would go out at the same time.) An accurate wiring diagram would be very helpful for this (from the official manual or alldata.com--not Haynes or Chiltons.) You can also check continuity between the ground connections on the motors to a known good ground with an ohmmeter.

If the motors are fine but you have no power to them it is time to check the wiring going to the switch in your door. See if you can find out from a wiring diagram where the wiring comes from before it goes into your door. See if there is power where it is supposed to be and proper ground where it is supposed to be.

You will likely at some point have to remove the control panel piece in your door. To remove, put a flat head screwdriver or small putty knife in the crack at the top of the panel between the panel and the handrest and then push forward on your tool and lift up the front of the panel and then slide it upward and forward.
