Steering box

I just had front end work done today to finally be able to get an alignment (the alignment was REALLY bad, at a negative .71 for the front) i was told i may need a new steering box though cause we tightened the bolt on it but it still has some play in it, if i gotta tignten it a little more im not gonna knock it out of alignment again am i?

Re: Steering box

The alignment, per se, will hold however the vehicle will 'hunt' on the road - meaning it may not stay straight, not pulling, but with a tendency to move one way and then another.

This happened to my own car when the gearbox went south. Replacing it solved the problem.

Re: Steering box

If you need to replace it the steering box, see if you can find one for a 9C1. The increased ratio will give you a better, less darty, feel while driving.

Re: Steering box

I wonder if i need to replace mine also. Whenver i go over a bump the car will sort of swerve sometimes and it seems like its a little more than normal.

Re: Steering box

Usually, that's a sign of a bad shock, or bad shocks.
