Is it sacrilige to paint an F40...

...any other colour than Ferrari red?

I was thinking of doing something wild with it, but the red is soooo nice on the car.

I think all roadgoing Ferraris look better in any color other than red. The red looks like plastic.

F40's look great in black, and if you stick w/the "basic" Ferrari shades of black, white, yellow, or silver you should have a great looking model. Enzo probably had a light green metallic one somewhere...

when i build a Ferrari it will be either lime green or floresent orange. maybe with some flames now that i know how to using the how to.

Anyway i think it would be nice to see a wild colored ferrari. using the same basic colors gets old after awhile(no offence to all the great looking red ones out there!) maybe even a 3 or 4 tone paint job, that would be cool!

I don't know about white... I guess I'll see when I get the primer on it. Not a huge fan of white cars except on specific models...and race cars, of course. Both the Mobil 1 NSX and the 911GT1 are white base colour.

I've seen real street F40's in Yellow, Black and Grey. All non-factory though.

There have also been countless numbers of race spec F40's in all kinds of non-ferrari colours.

Ya same here. If it were the real F40 then i would stick to the basic shades. But its just a plastic $30 kit. Paint it florescent pink

Haha, I'm not going that extreme...

I'm trying to think of a flashy colour that suits the car. Blue doesn't do it. Neither does green (not a big fan of green). Yellow always looks too much like plastic, which leaves Red... doh!

Other colours... orange, purple, silver, white (blah), black (not really a colour, but hey...)...

What I would love, and don't know if it exists or not, is a red that has a lot of orange in it. In fact, I want a colour like that for my Jagermeister Alfa. Does it exist? I know Ford Performance Red does a good job of it, but I'm not sure if I want to use automotive paints on a plastic model. Is Tamiya primer up for that task?

How about a dark grey, perhaps with a military colour, and then clearcoated and polished?

EDIT: How about Light Gunmetal (TS42) or Gunship Gray (TS48)?

And I'm still wondering about the existance of a red with a lot of orange in it...

EDIT: How about Bright Orange (TS31)
EDIT AGAIN: Just saw a new Brilliant Orange (TS56) Anybody use it?

There are also several pearls out. Check out the HLJ site for more info and pics.
