98 new beetle warm start problem

Hi, I have a 98 2.0L 4 cyl new beetle with 150K miles on it that has a warm start issue. Cold it starts and runs fine, but when warm the engine cranks hard but it refuses to start. I don't smell any fuel either. Any hints?

Thanks

Re: 98 new beetle warm start problem

You are pretty high mileage so that must mean your NB has been good to you!
My first check point would be the battery and terminals - if the battery is not in A1 order and only fractionally down on cranking volts the car may not start.
This problem can be worse on a hot engine as the hotter a cable get the greater its resistance.
Good Luck.
