Car Audio Noob Question

Here's the situation:
I don't have any CDs, and I don't listen to the radio. All the music I listen to is on my 16GB iPod touch

So....

I just bought a car that has a CD+FM tuner deck, but no Auxilary input. All I need is the Aux input, so I can hook up the iPod to the car.

My question is: How do you hook up the stereo so that the only input is the Aux input? I would throw out the deck if I could...waste of space. I know basically nothing about car audio, can somebody point me to some resources?

Re: Car Audio Noob Question

you may be throwing out the baby with the bath water .... the cd paler/radio may be the only amp in the car. You're best bet is probably to get a headunit with an aux input and be done with it. Other options get expensive fast.

Re: Car Audio Noob Question

Alternatively, if you're into the whole long pointless effort thing, you could toss the deck, run wires and get a 4 channel amp to power your speakers, throw in a minijack to RCA connector, and set the gains high and use the ipod as the head unit, but really now that could take all day to rip apart everything, and you'd have a nice sizable chunk missing in your front, and why bother with all that?

Just get a new headunit with an aux. They're getting cheap these days.

Re: Car Audio Noob Question

Have you tried looking into those iPod FM transmitters? Where you dial up a channel that only has static, set up the FM transmitter on the iPod and then transmit your music through the FM channel? I good brand for these iPod FM transmitters are Belkey and Griffin.
