02 Taurus 3.0 chirpping

Has a cam shaft sensor code & a chirpping noise you can feel with your hand on the cmp sensor. Goes away when you raise the rpm. I've replaced the sensor & am going to do the synchronizer this weekend. I'm thinking a bad bushing in the synchro. In searching this forum I didn't see any concrete proof that the synchronizer is causing the problem. Could it be the flexplate? Something else anyone has run into?

Really? There have been a lot of posts on this forum discussing the synchronizer causing a noise not unlike the chirping you describe. What kind of proof are you hoping for, concurrence that the noise goes away as the engine speed increases or something else?

My bad I should have just typed in chirping. Too many key words I guess. Thanks for answering again & again.

Re: 02 Taurus 3.0 chirpping

I think "synchronizer" would have gotten you somewhere too, but my main point was mentioned in the forums (not sure if here, Windstar or Escort) of the lack of lubrication in that location has been observed and adding oil quiets it down. Probably under the "chirping" subject you would also find the two idler bearings will do this (mine do).

I like your signature, but sanitized or sensored or annihilated might be more accurate every day.
