Indicator Light question

I have a 99 Alero. I saw an indicator light on my dashboard and I don't know what this indicator light is. It appears on the left side of the dashboard. It's a red box with a little red line at the top of the box. Inside the box at the bottom, there is this line that looks like ocean waves. Is it possible that this can be related to the coolant level in the car. The light will eventually disappear while driving, but as soon as I start accelerating the car, the light is back on. Also a couple days after that happened, the check engine light came on. Is it possible that the two are linked together? Thanks for your help!

Re: Indicator Light question

To me it sounds like it is your coolant level light the easy way to fix that is just add coolant and the light goes away ???

Re: Indicator Light question

thanks for replying. I had thought about that. I just wanted to make sure and not be concerned that it was something else causing that light to appear.

Re: Indicator Light question

Do you think it is the intake manifold gasket?

Re: Indicator Light question

could be just low coolant level. If coolant is leaking from the intake gasket you would notice it in oil or leaking down ends of block where the intake meets the cylinder heads. Check your oil first and see if there is an orange tint to it. ( the color of dex-cool antifreeze.)

either way make sure you check the coolant level if you are leaking it from the intake then you have bigger problems start with a top up of coolant
