Suzuki Samurai - 1/24 Fujimi

Hey,
After finishing my Levin, i've choosen to start another Fujimi kit and old one...

It's a 1988 kit:

It is a very simple kit, with no great details and very simple instructions.

I have already bid a donor kit from Ebay and some detail parts in order to make this Samurai more interesting!

A very first moch up (it doesnt look that interesting...does it?):

My plans are to make something like these:

Hope to make it right and enjoy this build!

Thank you for your time stay tuned

Re: Suzuki Samurai - 1/24 Fujimi

Hey all!

Long time no see, but im still waiting to receive my huge order of goods for the kit. (Hopefully soon i will have them...)

Anyway, in order to keep me in shape i've done some minor work, such as sanding, puttying, sanding again, open holes on the bonnet for racing clips, remove the plastic front grills and those of the top of the hood and finally....i've started to work on the snorkel

I made two possible version and i need your opinion on which is better...

Version 1:

From plastic sprue, i've measured the lenghts and the angles and i made the following. Needs some cutting on the top and a hole.

Version 2:

Bented wire....

I think i prefer the first option...seems more close to scale and more realistic...please let me know your opinion

Next update as soon as i have my stuff delivered!
Thank you for your time

Re: Suzuki Samurai - 1/24 Fujimi

Might be an interesting project.... but neither one of the snorkel ideas look the part, TBH. I spent a lot of time figuring out how to make realistic snorkels in 1/24 scale. Here is my first attempt from two years ago: Subaru Legacy

I used Evergreen tube and the top part of a Unimog snorkel. Today I wouldn't use this part, but rather a scratch build part similar to the ones from Safari Snorkels. I am currently building a snorkel for the Aoshima Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero (no pics yet).

Do a bit of research first. Google Samurai engine bay and Samurai snorkel. Make a plan where the whole needs to be and bend your rod accordingly. Nothing looks more wrong on a scale model than a snorkel that is too small/big.

Have fun experimenting, I usually need five or six tries to get it the way I want it. Be patient... it's worth it!

Cheers

Re: Suzuki Samurai - 1/24 Fujimi

Hey guys!

My first delivery done and is full of pe and metal parts

I'm waiting 2 more deliveries and the project will fire up!

Until then...i followed your opinion and after a lot of measuring i finaly made the snorkel. it looks like this, and i think it's the best choice! Please let me know!

Then i start modifiy this part of the car which i dont know how you call it in english really sorry...plz let me know....
I made holes in the air intakes for the wiring of the gauges, and i've also made a hole in the place of the car lighter for the wiring of the GPS. Additionaly, i cut out the codriver handle cause i didn't like it at all and will either make a new one from wire or i wont put anything...

Thank you very much for your time and your advises!

Great job so far on the snorkel. I would like to get one of these kits and do something similar.

Re: Suzuki Samurai - 1/24 Fujimi

New update from the Samurai!

I've modified the dash with pe materials like big rpm gauge, engine check gauges and i used a pe nokia phone for GPS...its a prefit so no decals or wires...what do you think?

Here is the pe mobiles:

Then i made moch ups with both chassis in order to see where to chopp them and mix-match them! I've already started the chopping but no pics yet....

Soon with new update from the "surgery" !!!
