AUX input not working properly
I have a Kenwood KDC-MP7028. It has a 2-channel RCA Aux. Input in the rear. I ran a splitter to convert it to 1 RCA male from 2 females, then a converter from RCA to 3.5mm male. I plug in my iPod, and it neglects half of one of the 2 stereo channels, or an entire channel completely. I've triple-checked wiring, even used new wires, splitter, converter, still the same faults in audio. any reason why this is messed up?

Re: AUX input not working properly
if you ran a converter to convert 2 into 1 then you just made it mono, you need to get a plug that plugs into the females that has a 3.5 jack on it, walmart sells them in the home audio section or over by headphones.

Re: AUX input not working properly
well the head unit itself has a right and left channel RCA input, if i get a converter from RCA to 3.5mm on each channel, i'd still need to join them. I've done that, too, using a 3.5mm splitter. I can see how i turned it into a single channel sound, but, aren't headphone 3.5mm plugs stereo? the only 3.5mm cable i can find has only 1 wire running from both male ends, which works fine in other head units with a front aux input

Re: AUX input not working properly
you have to look on the metal plug of the 3.5mm adapter. You probably have one that only has one insulator - to seperate into tip and sleeve, this is a mono adaptor. The stereo one will have 2 insulators and three distinct metal section - tip, ring and sleeve. Look at it closely before you buy another one.

Re: AUX input not working properly
even if he had a stereo 3.5mm he just converted a set (red, white) into 1 RCA, which converted it to mono right there. You need a plug that takes both red and white and converted it down to 3.5mm jack.

Re: AUX input not working properly
ok, I see whay you're saying. He needs a single cable that has 2 rca males on one end and a stereo 3.5mm jack on the other.

Re: AUX input not working properly
i have never seen a cable that does that, 2 RCA males to 1 3.5mm. I could just use 2 converters from RCA to 3.5mm, making 2 3.5mm, then find a stereo 3.5mm splitter.
thank you for your help |
