Question about booking airline tickets

i'm going to Miami in August and i'm looking into flights right now to save some money. I'm using sites like Oribtz & Expedia. My question is this. Is the checked-luggage bag charge that American charge included with the fees and taxes in the price on these sites, or is that an exta 15 per bag on top of the price??

Re: Question about booking airline tickets

BUT (I just read this at the airport yesterday) you can have 1 bag of a certain weight, for free. If it's heavier, or you have more than 1, you get charged. I think the weight is 50# but call them to be sure.

Re: Question about booking airline tickets

They charge you extra to check your baggage??

Usually its free up to a certain weight (here is 20kg for domestic, 25 for international) then you pay a price per kg over that weight.

Re: Question about booking airline tickets

Yeah, usually on international flights into or out of the US, it's 50lbs per bag and you're allowed 2 bags and 1 carry on.

However, sports equipment is a special consideration if it's snowboards, scuba gear etc etc.

Re: Question about booking airline tickets

yeah, it used to be that you were allowed 2 bags checked, up to 50 pounds, and a personal item (which you could carry on) and a carry on. But now with American Airlines, the first checked bag will cost you 15 bucks. Most airlines are charging $25 for a second checked bag. I think their philosophy behind this is that it will reduce the weight of the airplane resulting in saving gas

Re: Question about booking airline tickets

I thought I heard it's on any bags over 1 from now on you're going to be charged extra. Whatever, I'll stay home.
