Locking differential in 1995 Suburban

Hello,

I was reading somewhere that the RPO code G80 means that I have a locking differential, I was just wondering if this is true, I know that Eaton makes the G80 for the current Silverado trucks, but would this be the same thing for my 95 Suburban. I'm asking this because under the list of RPO codes in the glove box I do see G80, but I've been in situations where my rear wheels were slipping, and I could only get out via 4wd because the tires just kept slipping. So I was wondering if the G80 maybe stood for something else in 1995 or something like that.

Re: Locking differential in 1995 Suburban

G80 is a Limited Slip Positraction in 1995. Remember that when it is serviced limited slip additive is required or the clutches will not work correctly and it may will act like an open differential.

It is not a limited slip, it locks up when one wheel spins 100 rpms higher than the other, no additive is required with this unit. G80 is the same design throughout the GM line.
