A/C Question

Is it absolutely necessary to evacuate the a/c system. My 99 aurora needed a little freon( has a very small leak) and I probably overcharged it, blows cool air but not cold. I would like to start from scratch so I know I've got the correct 2lb. charge but have no way to evacuate the system.
