idles and often dies

Hey guys, got an issue. My '94 vic LX has 144,000 on it and often i am finding that when i sit at a stop light or a stop sign for a long time my car will idle way down and and sometimes-die. I then put it in neutral and it starts right up. It only does this once and a while but if i am in traffic it gets to be a pain in the ass. i just replaced a bunch of stuff on the fuel system. I put in a new fuel pump and its bracket, lines, and filter. what do you think is causing this? The battery? Alternator? Maf Sensor? or could it be a fuel issue?

The IAC can get carboned up and need to be cleaned. It could also be a vacuum leak, faulty EGR, dirty injectors, fuel filter (you did this) or the TPS.

Re: idles and often dies

Its time to replace your "Idle Speed Contol" valve. Its the one that controls the flow to the engine when at idle (or on a red light and stop sign). Its located behind the intake manifold on the drivers side. Its a hard one to reach and replace, you may have to take of the intake manifold just to replace this. I had the same problem with my 92 CV. I'm 100% sure of this, I've been in your shoes, traffic is horrible where I am too, and I had to put it in neutral every single stop or even a simple sudden step on the brakes. This can be a do it yourlef job, the part is only 50 dollars. Goodluck.
