coolant flush

whats a good flush to use in a cooling system, use it before or after I change the thermostat , or could I run the engine with the flush in it without the thermostat for maybe an hr. to get the system clean then replace the thermostat with a new one ?

if you can drain the entire coolant system it is ok to use a system cleaner and after this cleaning using a water hose with engine drain plugs removed run water until all is clear....remove all coolant, and thermostat first then run with cleaner and water at idle ...do not run engine without water or you will damage water pump...

If you cannot drain the entire coolant system do not use the flush chemicals...

remember to use dexcool as your vehicle is designed only for this type. make sure it is approved by GM....use distilled water not dirty metal ladden tap water the minerals will damage plug up your coolant passageways..
