#021 or #004 (red) F1 in Singapore temporarily

"A forumer from Ferrarichat told me that it is #21 and he have the pics of it but do not want to send it to me. They kept/keep the car there temporarily for a client"

from a singapore member in sgforums.

It is at Malayan Motors (Singapore Jag and Bentley dealer), the same place which has #065 and just recently sold #018.

Does anyone have any pics or info about #021?

Thanks.

Re: # 021 (red) F1 in Singapore temporarily

So, I asked him who this member is from ferrarichat.

this is his reply.

"His nick is Pelaton25 and if I'm not wrong he worked with Mclaren before and he was a mechanic at Brunei in 1998(if i'm not wrong again) The F1 here in Malayan motors is either #21 or #4. He once told me this. I almost forgotten."

So Eric, apparently you've got the pics of the Malayan motors mclaren?

Re: # 021 (red) F1 in Singapore temporarily

Erik worked at Mclaren? Was a mechanic in Brunei? I'll let him answer those....

The rumour re the Red F1 has been around on here for a while and was off here too

We believe these pics are of #021, but no chassis plate shots to verify the educated guesses

Yeah - funny stuff. This person is definitely a little confuzzled and I'm truly not sure why. I can assure you that although I'd love for those statements to be true, they are not. Also I've never made the claim of either one so I really don't know where they came up with that. There are some individuals on FChat who can legitimately make those claims and have participated in the very long and detailed Brunei thread, but I am not one of them.

I do indeed have four pictures of the car, but am unable to share them publicly. I commented on them here once before by saying:

Quote:
The car is at Malayan Motors and I do believe it's parked next to the XJ220. It is covered like the XJ220 and like chassis #068 that I saw, still has the travel lugs fitted. I wish I could share the photos I have seen, but they don't offer much more detail. There was no shot of the chassis plate or even the interior unfortunately.
I believe the chassis number has not yet been confirmed and that it could either be #004 or #021.

I made additional comments about the car and the photos in the Brunei thread on F-Chat. I'll copy those posts over to here using some editorial liberties with the sequence they occured so that the discussion makes more sense. The discussion was initially sparked by this comment:

I happen to believe this car may be the red F1 seen at Malayan Motors in Singapore now, but it could just as well be chassis #021 leaving #004 still languishing in Brunei. We'll find out eventually I guess - we usually do.

The car appeared to be in an outside parking area under a cover that had been pulled off to allow some quick pictures. They were taken with a cellphone camera and the quality is somewhat poor unfortunately. I was told they were taken at MM, but there is nothing in the pics that allows me to confirm that.

I have only been told an XJ220 is there, and while I believe the source and other reports, I have not seen or requested to see the evidence of that myself. I can say that the car next to the F1 under a cover has a roofline similar to what you'd find on an XJ220 so it seems likely.

If you are local, why not pay them a visit?
Note - following that comment, basman was kind enough to remind me that photos of the XJ220 had been shared publicly.

PS: bro....if you are very very very kind enough.....would you mind to send me those pics via e-mail...well i am asking for your permission first....if you allow...then i will PM you my hotmail.....to me the pic is for car enthusiats to appreciate it....not to tell rumours to people

I am certainly kind enough to share [the pictures], but that's not really the issue. I was asked very kindly when the pics were sent to me not to share them with anyone else and always respect those requests. While I personally believe in the free exchange of info whenever possible, I am limited by my sources sometimes and don't want to jeopardize anyone's access by sharing something when I've been asked not to.

As I told basman last night via PM, I would almost rather have the chassis number than a set of photos, as it is easy for me to imagine what a red F1 looks like, but often hard to imagine what chassis number it is when staring at a photo. There are still several cars that are completely unknown as far as their current status is concerned and narrowing that list is my primary goal.
Reading through it again, I do take issue with one word I used in my first reply when I said:

"That should have been chassis #004 in Brunei."

I said "should" which gives more weight to the statement that wasn't necessarily intended when the more appropriate word was probably "could". I try to be careful about separating fact from theory or opinion, but I don't think I did such a good job that time. Unfortunately after 1 hour you can not edit posts made on F-Chat without the assistance of a moderator, but I did want to make that clarification here at least.

Fairly certain - the Meltzer car has always had a tan interior. The car in the shots that Greg just shared has a black one it would seem.

Funny though that this topic comes up as I did just find this picture the other day I was meaning to share. It's not the greatest quality, but appears to show a different red F1 in the McLaren showroom that does have a tan interior. I would think that it is #028, but can't be certain of course.

Re: # 021 (red) F1 in Singapore temporarily

do you guys keep an excel file or something with all the chassis number and colours and location (+owners) of the F1s around the world? I'm sure it will be easier for you to keep track of these rarities if you have a setup like that.

I have one, but I don't keep it updated as often as I should. The way that I file the pictures and info I find on my computer harddrive helps me keep things straight. I also have a pretty good handle on this stuff floating around in my head, and if I can't remember something exactly, I can usually refer back to a resource like this forum to set myself straight.

The shot in Greg's sig shows Rowan Atkinson's F1 traveling down the highway. You have to look close though. I don't recall the original image being shared though. Where'd you get it Greg? PistonHeads maybe?
