HELP:Car stuck in limp mode

Hi

My car recently develop the problem of stucking in limp mode. This problem seems relate to the temperature of the day Very much. During a warm day, or in the noon, if the car is heated under the sun, when I start the car, it would automatically switch to limp mode. However, if it is during the morning or night, when the car is cool, it will run perfectly.

I found alot of people having the same problem with their car having temperature related limp mode, but I can't find solution to this on the internet so far. Does anybody know the reason of this. What would be wrong?

What make, model and year is the vehicle in question?

If this is a Chrysler product, I'd suspect an output shaft speed sensor issue. Pretty common, and usually pretty easy and inexpensive to fix.

You might get more detailed responses though if you were to post on the forum specific to your vehicle. Be sure to provide any specific details to your vehicle though, like year, make, model, engine and transmission if you know which transmission is in it.

In most cases when a vehicle goes into the "Limp Home Mode", the system sets a trouble code. Is your "Check Engine" light on and if so you need to get the trouble code that is stored. It would be nice if you told us what vehicle you are driving?!?

Getting the codes read would be a good start. Since it's newer than a 1996 and it appears you're located in the United States, most of the auto parts stores should be able to read the OBD-II codes at no charge to you. If the code is not specific to the transmission, they should be able to read it. It's worth a shot anyway.

There is a Hyundai forum and, while there isn't a specific listing for the Getz, there is an "Other models" forum which may be able to provide you with information on common issues with Hyundais that cause the limp home mode.
