1993 voyager ecm

Hello, I was needing to know what years of emc's will fit in a 1993 voyager. It has a 3.0 and I believe a 3 speed auto. Will a 91 or 92 computer fit?

Also, Does anyone know which pins supply the computer with power. I only have power to 1 pin, not sure of the numer but it is a white wire with a red stripe.

The guy I got it off of said it was running. Well, I went to pick it up and It wouldn't start. (infact I know it was running before I picked it up.) It Had a dead battery so he tried to jump it and it cranked but no start. The fuel pump will not kick on unless I jump that relay. I do not have 8 volt supply voltage from the cmputer to the pickup on the distributer nor 5 volts to the tps or other sensors. Does anyone know which color wire feeds the computer? There is no Fuse under the dash for the ecm. Is there a fusible link in the wire harness and if so, where.

I know its alot of questions but I want to do all the checks I can before replacing the ecm. Thanks

There are many things that can cause problems with changeing ECM's. If you have options on your van that wasn't on the other or vise versa that can cause problems. That may be why your van won't start. I know in the newer vehicles they have the VIN programed into the computer, but i don't know if the older vehicles are programed like that. Haveing a different VIN can cause problems.

Re: 1993 voyager ecm

Ok, Just to let you all know what I found if anyone was following this thread, I found that the ecm was getting power through one wire while off (white with red stripe but may differ from year to year) and then had power at another wire (blue) with the ignition on..It had not 5 volts power at any of the sensors or 8 volts at the pickup in the distributer. (1993 3.0 engine) Anyway, I went to the pull a part at a salvage yard pulled a computer out of another 93 with the same engine tranny (they had tons of these mini vans) and paid $20 for it. Stuck it in and started up great. I heard that ECM failers were somewhat uncommon. Infact almost every van at the salvage place had a computer. I think I only seen 2 that didn't. Anyway, runs great expecially for a free van that someone just handed me the title too and said to pick it up. I was going to drag it across the scales for cash but then it was in such good shape I couldn't do it. Infact its in better shape than most on the road. It had a clean engine, tranny, new tires, great dash, new radio and 100,000 miles on the OD. It had been in a garage for years out of the sunlight so even the dash is like new. Now its time to get new carpet and redo the seats. I have a tranny issue but will probably make another post for it. It doesn't always shift into 2nd or 3rd. It likes to stay in 1st. It is not an electric controlled tranny so its all mechanical. Im wondering if the Valves are sticking. Going to go put some lucus tranny lube in it tomarrow and see if that don't free them up.

Re: 1993 voyager ecm

Glad to hear you got it running.

Seems to me on the 3 speed tranny's the govenor does get sticky. I have a 93 with the 4 speed tranny that would not engage into gear right away when shifting into drive from neutral so I tried Lucas and it worked sometimes and sometimes it didn't but I believe it helps restore the seal conditions, so I tried the SEAFOAM tranny treatment. I warmed up the tranny to normal operating temp and added the seafoam, let it run in neatral for about 5 to 10 minutes then took it for a drive. The tranny went into drive when shifted from neutral like it should and shifted up all gears and downshifted properly in all gears. I drove it for about 10 miles and it didn't miss a beat. I haven't driven it much since I did this but I think it is worth a try (around $7.00). If it works for you then do a filter and fluid change using ATF+4 fluid. I would do a complete fluid change if you do. There are a couple ways to do a complete fluid change, just let us know and we can help with procedures if need be.

Good Luck and keep us posted
