95 Jimmy Distributor Problem....

This is my fisrt post, and let me start off by saying thank you to you all, this forum has already been a big help to me.
So I Bought a 95 Jimmy recently, 4x4, 4.3ltr, its high mileage (300000+kms), but is in very good shape. Today i was changing the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, coil, usual tune up stuff, and when i went to change the distributor cap, i found that it was being held on with plastic ties, now when i first saw this i figured somebody had just done this cause the screws were hard to get at, but when i got the cap off i found that the pieces on the distributor where the cap screws on were broken off. Anybody have any advice on what i can do besides the obvious get a new distributor? For now i am just going to do the plastic tie thing to hold the new cap on. And seeing as how i'm probably gonna end up having to get a new distributor, any recomendations as to what kind i should get?

Re: 95 Jimmy Distributor Problem....

Check the dealer on a new housing or check on A rebuilt dist for a good dependable repair.
About 75-85$ USA for a rebuilt dist at parts places.
The plastic ties are only a band aid that may come lose on the road.
When replacing dist use this picture.

And when in and running have or set the camshaft retard setting on a engine capable scanner as close to 0 - or + degrees as you can get it.
