2004 Passat Headlamp / Headlight Intermittent

I have a 2004 Passat W8 4Motion Wagon that has had an intermittently functioning passenger side headlamp. Often times I notice it not working when the headlamp switch is off, but because this car has daytime running lights, there is no way to just turn them off. If I turn off the ignition, turn the headlamp switch to on, re-start the car, this 99% of the time will solve the problem.

I am tired of the intermittently functioning headlights and looking for a solution. I have brought it to the service department on three occasions, but it never seems to malfunction for them, and they don't know what the problem seems to be.

I appreciate any insight on this.
