Hello my fellow Grand Prixists,
Has anyone ever put a front-mount intercooler on their S/C'd SII 3800's? I would think it would help performance, but I have NEVER heard of anyone that has done that and I'm rather surprised. I figure there must be some good reason that I'm not aware of. Insight anyone?....

Re: Front Mount Intercooler?
Grand Prix's have never really had any problems with heat that would cause a need for an intercooler. If you feel you need this upgrade, go ahead. But in my opinion, you could spend the money on something else performance wise and get more for your buck.

Re: Front Mount Intercooler?
Intercoolers are required for smaller supercharger pulleys to keep knock retard within spec. Other than that, I'm not sure that they serve that much of a purpose.
Do you have a smaller pulley or ever plan on getting one?

Re: Front Mount Intercooler?
Front mounts are for turbo applications along with side mouted ones, supercharger intercoolers work in a different manner.

I don't have a smaller pulley yet. From what I've heard, there really isn't a pulley that you can put on without having to dig in a lot deeper to make your engine able to handle it. I'm hoping that I'll win a lottery or something so that I can do everything I want to with my car. Until then....$20 here, $20 there.

Re: Front Mount Intercooler?
I'm running a 3.5" with one step colder plugs and a 180 degree t-stat. Seemed to help out performance a little.

Re: Front Mount Intercooler?
When you went to the 3.5" pulley, is that all you did to compensate for the added power (T-stat and plugs)?

Re: Front Mount Intercooler?
I also have a zzp stage 1 throttle body because my MAF died and rather than spend 119, I sent 190.
Soon I hope to add a DHP PCM and a high flow bolt in downpipe
