Hi all, can you help me with the 93 impreza colin mcrae kit?

Hi guys I am going to start my 1993 Impreza Colin McRae kit. Made by Hasegawa. Pretty comon kit really but I would like to ask if anyone have reference photos of it? I been searching through the net but I couldn't seem to find any... I want all rear front and side photos at least. Also is there a proper paint I could buy for this kit so it can save me the time of mixing it?? If not then I am still happy to mix it~ just felt lazy haha

Anyway if anyone forgot what this kit is I have posted the link below

http://www.hlj.com/product/HSGCR17

Thank you guys!!

Check out http://www.swrt.com/gallery/gallery.html for some pictures. For the color you could check zero-paints at hiroboy.com.

Hi,

Sorry, haven't got any photos to share I'm afraid, but in terms of paint, Zero Paints do a line of Subaru base colours and they have listed the 555 Montecarlo Blue ('94-'96), which should be a close match to the '93 colour.

Zero Paints are available from Hiroboy, here's a link:

Good luck.

Re: Hi all, can you help me with the 93 impreza colin mcrae kit?

just a quick question, does hiroboy normally reply slow? because i remember seeing another thread saying that it may take up to 6 months before hiroboy replys due to his heavy workload, is that true? i wouldn't mind because i am not hasty but just want to make sure because i don't want to send him an email every week asking for a reply. thanks guys

I cannot comment on Steve's (Hiroboy) response times for emails - though it does seems he is heavily overloaded at the moment. My advice, and this applies for all email queries to anyone, is to research beforehand and be very specific in your questions.

I recall there being a thread on AF a while ago where the various shades of Impreza Blue offered in the Zero-Paints range were compared. I'd try and dig out that thread and have a look. Or else, I believe that Zero-Paints can match any colour as long as you have the correct manufacturer code. Perhaps you can find this for the Subaru? I am sure that Subaru released some road cars in the same paint as the old Group A Impreza, so you may have some luck.

I agree with Tim that swrt.com is probably your best place online for reference photos, as they have quite an extensive archive.

As for the model, well the main problem is the ride height. For all the Hasegawa Impreza rally kits the suspension appears to be more like a Safari set-up, so you may want to lower it. Otherwise, it is quite a nice kit.

Good luck,
Grant.

sweet grant great info~ yea i understand that he might be busy so i thought it's better to just ask here first before i annoy hiroboy. i will keep being patient and wait for a reply.

i tried finding a thread about the suby as i agree that this is a comon kit but i couldn't find it yet... or i might have just missed it. anyway i will keep trying. thanks for the info on the ride height tho~ give me an expectation before actually building it~

Great info indeed. I was already wondering about the ride height and you confirmed my suspicion.

Re: Hi all, can you help me with the 93 impreza colin mcrae kit?

Sorry to hijack your thread, but....

I think the thread that contained the discussion about the paint was actually about a later 2-door WRC car, maybe the McRae Monte Carlo Tamiya model. If I recall correctly I think Freakray or Tonioseven may have been involved in the discussion, so perhaps search their posts?

As for the ride height issue, I have attached a couple of shots of a Hasegawa kit I finished a while ago. As you can see from the first photo the ride is pretty tall. In comparing it to an Impreza road car (2nd photo) you can see just how tall it is. For my next Impreza rally car I am going to swap the suspension from the rally kit to the Sportswagon kit. I figure I can then have a rally car at near the right ride height, and do the Sportswagon as an Outback/RV.

Cheers,
Grant

thanks for the photos, that is quite tall... i am thinking of cutting down the suspension like another regular kits that requires lowering as i don't have anything in my "trash" pile that fits to this kit (yet) lol...and i will give it a scan on those two guys~ thanks for that also

Sorry to drag this one up guys, but I was just curious Grant how you came up with the Gr A road car wing on Michael Guest's car. Also, are those the S27 decals or home made. I saw the Winfield decals on mediamix this morning but wasn't sure if they did Guesty's car - always wanted to do this one.
