A/C Fan will not run on low

I have a 95 Exec. the a/c fan motor will not run on any other setting than hi.
I have drawn a blank because there is no voltage going to the fan when you turn the dial to lower speeds. I have played with it some but the a/c controler is out of my range. parts aren't cheap and can't find used ones. can someone point me in the right direction. i know there are three parts just don't know how to tell which one is bad.

Re: A/C Fan will not run on low

1995 is a good year!
I keep the car, and divorced my X.
You might want to check through forum for ''1995 or Newer''.
After market parts are cheap for these cars + Check EBAY using key
words ''Town car''

Are the buttons sticking?

Re: A/C Fan will not run on low

You are right it has 260k on the motor and never been out of the car the trans out once and i'm the second owner and got it from the 1st owner!!!!!!.

The buttons are not sticking now. They were but I have taking the unit compleaty apart buttons and all and cleaned it.

I know the that there is the fan, a/c swich, and and unit in the duct work under the hood which i don't know the name of it. I have had no luck finding after market parts for the swich. I have found the fan ($25) and the unit under the hood ($179) after market. but the swich is $490 new. I can't aford that. Is there anyway to test the unit under the hood. I think the fan is good. Is there anyway to tell which part is bad. I can't aford the hit or miss method on this one.

That's a quick and simple repair. The Blower Speed Control is the culprit...
The transistor solder was cheap and melted.. re-solder it with some good solder and you'll never have the problem again.

I have a couple pdf's on the problem on my webpage: (lol has one too, here)

Thumbs up Re: A/C Fan will not run on low

Steven tks and my hats off to you. That was it !. I had that uint out once looking at it but could not see the break with out a magnify glass. Once i got it back out and looked at again i could see the break along a color change. This save me approx $179 plus the time waiting for it to come in. TKS again

Re: A/C Fan will not run on low

I'll bet your right too.
i'm going to take some time to reflect on my old unit.
2Bn 116th Field Artillery out of Winter Haven,Fl. I've been out for 17yrs and I still miss those guys.

Going to sit back and eat up a storm and drink a big glass of sweet tea and tell stories to my bubbys and family later.

Have a good one.
