Which seats will fit?

Just picked up an 89 Civic hatch and the seats are destroyed.
Can anybody tell me if there are any other types pf seats which will fit beside the racing seats.

Thanks all

Re: Which seats will fit?

88-91 civic hatch seats will work or you can manufacture a way to make crx seats work

Re: Which seats will fit?

That would be fabricate, not manufacture. You should just be able to swap the seat rails over for the CRX seats.

Re: Which seats will fit?

I haven't had to go through the process, but I'm sure its not difficult. People make different seats fit in their cars all the time. If you want a simple direct fit, not modding needed, just get some hatchback seats and slap in there.

Re: Which seats will fit?

Yeah you CANT just take crx seats and slap hatch rails on. Hell, I couldn't even get 91 crx si seats into my 91 crx dx. I had to pull the metal pan off the bottom of the seat and swap them. But I got my seats in there DAMMIT!

Re: Which seats will fit?

custom rails are almost always needed for seat swaps.. for some reason, Honda decided they didn't want you swapping seats... hell with engines, just can't have the seats.

Hatch seats, yes, CRX seats if you change the seat pan or the whole back, any other seat you want if you make the rails fit, which isn't hard.

Re: Which seats will fit?

DelSol seats fit in rex's pretty easy so I cant imagine there would be much of a problem in a hatch. They set lower too. Great if you have the si sunroof.

Yeah, except hatch seats don't fit properly in a CRX either. Apples and oranges, buddy.

Yeah...thats kind of the point I was making. Just saying the delsol seats sit low. Still have to be modified for a hatch or rex. Just not that difficult.

Re: Which seats will fit?

K, the post was a lil confusing... made it seem like you were saying that CRX seats were a direct fit.

Re: Which seats will fit?

easiest thing is to find some 88-91 hb seats and put them in...if you find a set that you want or can get a good deal on, then we'll go from there

Re: Which seats will fit?

OK, I'm confused^2....

I have a 91 CRX DX. What seats will fit it? I don't necessarily mean drop in; I can drill/grind/braze/ etc...

The yard of bones has various Civics, Del Sols, etc but no CRX's much less one with good seats...

ps: said yard now pays $300 per car, any car, any shape. I see LOTS of "it was in the backyard for 20 years but for that $$$" cars.... two 70's 450SL [each 4600#'s of steel!], a Rover sedan, a MG, some 544's...

Re: Which seats will fit?

anything will fit if you can modify it.

best idea is usually to stick with something of the same year, same manufacturer.

ANYTHING you put in other than racing seats and stockers will require SOME mods.. but the extent is up to you.

My question is about basic dimensions of various Honda seats. Some will be wider, longer taller that will fit in the available space. I'm just wondering if anyone has direct knowledge "Yes, a XXXX seat will fit in a CRX {without chopping off 6" excess width}..."
