1957 Ford Fairlane 500.... With a 351 winsor cobra engine

I went to go and look at this old '53 wagon my dad saw for sale on the side of the road and I thought it was pretty sweet. The guy came out and told us a bit about it... But i really wasnt fond of the wagon. He said that he had also had another car for sale in his garage. We go in and i Fall in love with this Car. It was a 57 Ford Fairlane 500 with the 351 and he Wanted 5,000 for it. It needed a new headliner but that was about it. It needed some new chrome too cuz there were some small dents on the existing chrome. But he had all the new chrome in the trunk. It was in a couple of shows before the headliner came down but he just ran out of time and space to work on it. I really think this is the best looking car ever. I think its a pretty good deal what do you guys think???

Re: 1957 Ford Fairlane 500.... With a 351 winsor cobra engine

It may or may not be a good deal. What is the price?

There is no such thing as a "351 Winsdor Cobra" engine. It may be a 351 with "Cobra" valve covers on it. Installing the Windsor in the early chassis isn't difficult, but not a "bolt-in" deal. Make sure the mounts aren't cobbled up and it sits in there "straight". Which transmission?

I agree, '57s are gorgeous cars. Is it the 2 door hardtop or sedan? I had a '58 when younger. Fairlane 500, 2-door sedan (post body). It had the 352 "Interceptor" (sounds MUCH faster than it really was) and "Cruis-O-Matic". Many '57s I've seen slightly modified had the '58 hood on them (a little "scoop" in the center). Actually, Ford out-sold Chevy in '57, but for some odd reason, there aren't near as many of the Fords still "out there", for sale, anyway. And they don't command the prices the Chevys get. Good, solid cars, though.
