remote reprogramming
I'm trying to reprogram the keyless entry remote for my 93 Ford Taurus. I tried holding the unlock button while turing the car on than off, on than off, and nothing worked.
Any ideas? Batteries are new... |

Re: remote reprogramming
I saw my mechanic doing my new remote and he placed a jumper in a jack located in the left side panel and then he clicked on the LOCK button and it worked. It actually took him 5 seconds. I know that someone is going to be a little more specific instructions than this but that is how my guy did it.
Good luck.

Re: remote reprogramming
From the factory service manual:
Transmitter Programming To program (or re-program) transmitter(s) into the electronic door lock control processor, perform the following steps: 1. Turn ignition switch to RUN or ACC position and momentarily short the two terminals of the program connector (J4) (a two-pin connector taped to the wire assembly is accessed by removing the left hand luggage trim panel). All doors should lock then unlock. Remove shorting pin. 2. Press any button on transmitters. All doors should lock then unlock, to verify that transmitters have been programmed. NOTE: If door locks do not respond, press button again (up to three times maximum with the same transmitter). If door locks still fail to respond, go to «Pinpoint Test I» . 3. Turn ignition switch OFF. All doors should lock then unlock. 4. Check operation. NOTE: The electronic door lock control processor erases all previous transmitters from memory when the transmitters are programmed or reprogrammed. The electronic door lock control processor can store up to four transmitters in memory. -Rod |
