Question 2002 SC2 with a problem I can't seem to identify...

I have a 2002 SC2 Automatic with about 85000 miles on it. I put a new altenator on it last June nd ran fine til recently.. over the past 2 mnths my car randomly won't start, it doesn't turn over evn.

About 2 weeks ago I was driving and my car just mde a sound then I couldn't go like over 20 so I stopped a t a gas station and turned my car off for aminute.. I strated it again and when I put it into reverse my car just revved like I was in nuetrl.. I had a friend push me back and then I got my car into drive and it wouldn't go over about 10mph and thats where the pedometer tac was stuck at. My radio also quit working as well as my lights on the inside, and my power windows and sunroof had to be helped to get them shut.. I had 2 different guys I know both look @ it and they both said the altenator.. so i had to put nw battery in it before I coulod get it to anywhere.. then a new altenator was put on it.. then the battery light still came on. The guy told me to get a new PCM, so i got one from a salvage yard, had the Saturn Dealership program and install it, my car drove fine on the wy home then i got ready to go somewhere else today and it did the exact smae thing it orignlly did..

Any suggestions??

The PCM RARELY go bad. I have never heard of one go bad since starting on the forums.

I would definetly lean towards a problem with your charging system. You may have something draining the battery while the car is off. The transmission is EXTREMELY dependant on correct voltages to operate. With the car off the battery should read 12V. With the car on, the battery should read 14V. With the A/C, lights, etc on the battery voltage should NOT drop below 13.8V. If it does, your charging system definetly has an issue.

After I got my PCM replaced it still did nothing so I'm kinda pissed I put the money into it there.. I have it sitting at a shop right now to get fixed, I was driving there today though and when i was less than a fourth mile away my car just died but then i turned the key back on and my battery was still cahrged, so I can only hope the mechanic can find something becuase I know nothing about cars.

Thnk you for your repsonse!
