300 Programming a new key

Hi all,

New here. Hope I am posting in the right area.
I have an 2006 Chrysler 300 and lost one of the keys.
I bought a used key on ebay but the dealership said that because the key was "already programmed" they cannot program it for my car.
Is this for real ? you cannot get a used key, you have to buy a brand new one? any advice ?
(Dealerships here are asking $180 + $ 40 to program )

Thanks.

Re: 300 Programming a new key

If that was they're answer then they are wrong, try another dealer. The key you bought may be defective or just wrong the wrong key. I work at a dodge dealer and we see a lot of bad and wrong keys off of e-bay. Just because it looks the same does not mean it will work. compare the number on the back, if its a different number its a wrong key.
