What engines are a direct fit into a 01 neon es SOHC? Ive been told only a 01 or 02. Why wont the newer ones fit in?

Re: 01 motor swap

You can use the 03-05 engine, but they have a newer NGC PCM which you don't want to use.

You can use any engine from 00-02 without any other problems.

Re: 01 motor swap

so is everything a direct fit in? Do I need to reuse my fuel injection setup? I know alot about the ford 5.0 and not much about neons. the engines on ebay for the 04 05 look identical. are the bolt patterns for the bellhousing the same? accessories? motor mounts? What do I need to do to not have to use the PCM for the newer motor?
