I honestly looked for something in the forum even close to this problem, but I must be the only one that will admit it actually happens!Any time the power locks are activated, by manually hitting the power lock, by remote or when they lock themselves as you begin to drive, both of my mirrors will move. Even if I put the remote mirror switch in the center, assuming it is supposed to lock them in position, I still have to readjust my mirrors every time I drive the car. (I use my car for work, so, it is an all day thing). I have also had a taste of some of the more common probs listed--a rear tail light msg, and a failure to start. My husband opened up a relay box and pushed the starter relay to make a better connection, hope that worked but it made sense since I had done a gravel road and creek prior to parking it before the failed start. Also crazy alarm issues--seems like everyone ends up with only one remote, bet the dealers are the ones selling them on ebay. Love my Jeep, though! My second, the first was a 1989 Cherokee.

Re: 1997 JGC Both Mirrors move with auto door locks
The mirror positions, radio stations, and seat positions are recorded in memory. The two buttons on the drivers door labeled 1 and 2 correspond to the 2 remotes. Once you have everything set push and hold (for 5 seconds I think) one of the 2 buttons. The tail light thing is usually one of the third brake lights burned out (there are three) or an incorrect bulb or corrosion.

Re: 1997 JGC Both Mirrors move with auto door locks
Moving mirrors are the ghost within the 96-98 limited's. Other then replacing the mirror motors there is nothing that can be done about the moving mirrors.
Unless you are willing to buy brand new ones, don't waste you money on used this is a very common problem on limited models along with the auto-dim crap leaking out of the drivers mirror. Quote:
