Re: transmission

96.97,98,99 have the Isuzu transmission.

00,01,02 have the getrag.

Either of these will bolt up. However, the transmission mounts are all different.

Whats the difference b/t the two? do they take the same axles, electrical connections, etc? Also, is there any other benifits of one over the other (Strenth, durability, gear ratios)? The reason I ask is because I think the manual trans on my 97 z24 is may be on its way out and I need to start looking for a replacement and if the getrag is better i may consider swapping.

Re: transmission

Getrag F23 >Isuzu

German made vs. Crappy GM made. Gear ratio's are pretty close to the same and might be the same. Axles are different between them and you can just wire in the new pigtails for the Reverse safety and VSS sensors since the Getrag are only in the 00+ cars. They have that class 2 wiring shit from GM. Also your rear and from mounts need to be ground off and have the getrag ones welded on. The rear needs to be 8" from the firewall to the very front portion of the mount and the front you just test fit and mark where it needs to go.
