Brakes.

For you guys with 99 & below body style Tahoes; not sure about the later models, when you go to change your brake pads and rotors.....

....specifically when you remove your brake caliper does your rotor flop round; is there nothing that is supposed to keep the rotor in place? C-clips maybe?

this is normal and preferred as if they did not flop around it would be seized to axle...remove rotor wire brush off rust, then brush on anti seize to mating surface , and install rotor on axle..

YIKES...THE ROTOR FLOPS AROUND WHEN THE WHEEL IS TAKEN OFF
Sounds like a possible recall

Just kidding...normal...the wheel when properly torqued will hold the rotor in place

Re: Brakes.

In the case of floppie rotors I always take a old style lug both and flip it over and zip it on a lug bolt.
Takes the flop out of them while you are working on then,
But be sure to remove it before installing the wheel or you will have a floppie tire and wheel.
