Odd Power Loss
Hello,
I have a '01 Elantra with a manual transmission and roughly 60k in mileage. I recently started experiencing power loss in all gears including reverse. What happens is when I press on the gas it seems that only some of the power is actually being used. Basically when I press on the gas pedal once it goes past a certain point there stops being an increase in acceleration and just an increase in RPM. Has anyone ever heard of this happening or know what the cause may be? Thanks. |

Re: Odd Power Loss
Might have an exhaust problem, is your check engine light on and can you pull a problem code if so? Could be oxygen sensor issues or bad catalytic convertor. If those are ok you might want to check the fuel delivery system...injectors, filter, etc. How about a tune up, had one lately?

Re: Odd Power Loss
So the revs go up but the speed doesn't go up with them? Sounds like the clutch is slipping.

Re: Odd Power Loss
Try to bleed the hydrolic system first and determine if the clutch control arm is working properly. Might save you a lot of money or time.
