Please can someone help me? I have a 260E 1987 and when it gets hot it tried to stop and act as though it is not getting enough gas. The lights in the front panal since to be going out, but they don't. If I try to give it gas it since it will not go and died down. It has died down once only, waited 10 minutes and it started with no problem. I have changed the gas filter the fuel accumulator, spark plug and cables change oil and fiter. The electrical fuel I believed its called the pv something the one behind the battery it suppose to control the fuel pump. All this happens only when the car gets hot after running it for a while.

any help will be highly appreciated,

Roberto/tati

the engineering in your car is beautiful and simplistic--not even close to what mercedes has gone and done with their newer cars. i want to say something about the o2 censor (oxygen censor), but i don't know how it all worked back then. the temperature can effect them, i do know that.

the fuel pump is an interesting assumption. after running a while, in the newer E Classes, it has been known to make a hissing sound--menaing it is about to go out. in the 210, it can be quite an expensive process and cost hundereds of dollars. i dont know much about your fuel pump, though. i expect that if it did need replacing, it would be much less.

it shouldn't be a difficult fix, what ever it is. most mechanics will be able to work on your car with little trouble. get that car up and running correctly again, it is a beauty and needfs to be on the road.
