VW GTi vs. A4 vs. Dodge Neon R/T
which one wins? I'm looking for acceleration. I wanna know how much each car costs, and what it would take to make it go faster. Which car is better for different reasons? Accel, 1/4 mile, 0-60, top speed
i would be getting a standard (manual) tranny. i know some about engines and most mods would be done by myself (and friends)

Yeah, really depends. I would take the GTI myself, and if it were in the choices, an S4. But that's just me.

my thoughts also
gti w/ 1.8t, or vr6. a4 w/ 1.8t or 2.8 v6 and what years? that determines hp... and what options on the a4? hmm... i would choose the a4, make it a sleeper... but i really like the gti... not a neon fan

I would buy an A4... it has alot nicer luxury interior than the others, more room... pretty good pick up. Plus the other 2 are ugly
I think the GTi is just a little bit faster than the A4, but it's a hatchback, and has less room. If you got the A4 2 somethin liter, did the basic mods I-H-E and then put a turbo on that would be pretty damn fast, and nice and luxurious inside. Plus it's an audi

VW had some reliability problems. It used to have one of the industry's worst warranty plan.
Hatchback provide more interior space than Sedan does. If you been in A4 you would know that rear leg space is at premium. A4's shape is very attractive it's fill with whole bunch of curves. A4 also cost a lot more than the other cars.

i don't think the GTi has more room than an A4!!
I've been in a friend of a friends A4 and it was nice and comfortable in the front seat

um, he said the golf has less room...
and yeah, vw had a shitty record, but they are now practically tied for the number three worldwide spot as a manuf... so they have come a long way... and on the 2.8 v6. you cant turbo cheap b/c of the v. you would need two turbos or some crazy piping for one. ive driven the passat w/ the 2.8 in it, and that biznitch is hella fast... and sooooo quiet... you dont even realize you are doublin the speed limit... and the a4 is alrite w/ the quattro, but that slows it down a bit... and quattro is a not fun awd... so you cant spin all four tires... it holds back so you cant really power launch it, b/c it has a built in lag to control tirespin... kinda sucks at times. so the golf is better there b/c it is lighter w/ similar power... i love american cars however, and the scca background of the neon is appealing, but i dont like the new style... just the old one... turbo that into the tens... sleeper style...

i apparently mis read it more than you did...
im not sure though, b/c the golf that i was in had a tiny backseat, as it was a 2 dr... the a4 i drove had a big rear area compared to the gti i drove... the gti was similar to my car, which has nonexistent leg room, but i tend to use most of that for me and my long ass legs... but, from what i have seen/sat in/driven, the golf gti had a smaller back seat... not that it was tiny, but the actual area is a little narrower, and the footwells are kinda tiny too...

flylwsi was it the newer models? Anyways there is some circumstances that makes the situation different. Like when you have a tall person driving the car etc. I don't know if that was your case or not. Comparing under normal situation there isn't much of a difference. Tall people will find A4's rear seats tight as well as GTI.
