Re: fuel pump issues

ok well the fuel guage has nothing at all to do with the fuel pump

so forget that

make sure that you swap the FP relay with another one to rule it out as being bad

it will click when you first turn the key switch all the way on to run position, and then click off after about 3 seconds

one wire/spade of the FP relay socket will be hot with key on

make sure one is

if not then theres a problem either a melted fuseable link at the starter, or somewhere else

check all connectors in the key on hot circuits for a melted spade connector

for example i had no power to the FP relay or headlights in a 94 astro van i was working on
and i could not find anything bad anywhere

until i pulled the fuseable link wires block off the firewall and separated the bolted together connector and found that one of the fueseable link spade slots was melted burnt badly

it happened ot be the link that supplied power to the headlights and to the FP relay circuit

i bypassed it and all was fine after that

the wierdest things sometimes

i dontknow what exact issue you have though ?

are you sure exactly what and where is getting or not getting power ?

and at what times/what key position ?

the relay will kick the pump on for about 3 seconds when you put the key switch into run position and then it will kick off

whe you crank and start the car then the relay is no longer in use and instead the oil pressure switch takes over

anytime the oil pressure falls below a preset PSI then it will cut off power to the FP

if its faulty then the car wil start but then die in about 3 seconds everytime

good luck

Re: fuel pump issues

Yes, and not an easy task. The connectors at the fuel pump ( on top of the fuel tank ) can corrode and cut the power to the pump.

I don't have a manual on your vehicle but some cars have an access panel under the back seat or in the trunk that allows you to check this, otherwise you have to drop the tank.

Someone else may have another possibility that could be a cure to your problem. So give this a day or two, if you can, before you have to pull the tank.

Re: fuel pump issues

I Know Only The Purple Wire In Harness Is Getting Power Back To Tank.there Is A Grey Wire In Harness When I Supply Power To It Through A Jumper Fuel Pump Runs.i Have Changed The Fp Relay With A New One.the Wires On Top Of Tank Being Corroded Doesn't Make Any Sense To Me Not Sending Power To Pump.i Currently Have Harness Disconnected Just Before Tank, sothere Shouldn't Be Any Way There Could Be Any Kind Of Feed Back???i Never Considered A Fusible Link
