Turbo 400

I have a turbo 400 that came with a truck I bought. I was told it is out of an 88 Caprice. Can someone tell me if that year is computer controlled. If it is what do I have to do to make it work right for my 64 C10.

Re: Turbo 400

i dont remember ever hearing of those being computer controlled at any point in thier production, but they did it to the th700r4, so i suppose it's possible. i would look under the truck and see if it has a vaccum modulator. it would act up if the hose isnt connected to vaccuum

Re: Turbo 400

I looked it up and they did'nt make an Impala in 88. So I don't know what year it is. I don't have the trans in front of me right now so i can't get any numbers off of it. Yes, I'm sure its a 400 and it's not in my truck yet, I want to get all the info. I can about it before I put it in. Did the 400 ever come with a lock up converter?

Re: Turbo 400

No, that would have been a 4l80e. No Imapla ever had a 400 trans. 88 full size Chevy was a Caprice as Randy said..
