Air conditioner out?

Hi- I have a 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS and the air conditioner started doing some strange things last summer. It begin blowing sort of cool air, but not cold. Then it would blow in 'waves' if you will- it would blow strong for several minutes, then it wouldn't hardly blow that much at all, then it would blow strong, and so on.

I had a guy take a look at it, but all he did was re-charge it with freon, but that did not seem to make a difference. I turned it on today and now it doesn't blow and cool air at all, and it still comes in 'waves.'

Any suggestions?! Any advice or insight you could give would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: Air conditioner out?

May be a blend door problem. Is the blower motor running at the same speed when the cool air comes in waves or is it speeding up and slowing down? Heat work ok and change from vent, defog and floor?

Re: Air conditioner out?

ithought maybe a leak too. i got the glove box out. there seems to be vacuum valve assm back in there with about 5 different colored vacuum lines being held by clear rubber connector. theres a vent air flow control flap against firewall when held in certain place will blow cold air. however when accelerating fan motor speed stays same but little air flow. any thoughts would help. thank you

Re: Air conditioner out?

I had similiar problems with my '97 MC. There are a lot of things that it could be. The best thing to do and easiest is take it to a GM dealership. They know the cars inside and out. My problem was a vacuum leak and it was an easy fix; it would have taken me hours to figure it out and fix. It didn't cost that much either.

bring to a repair center that does auto a/c ....the dealer with try to get you into a 10year lease on a new car....i don't know if this is a blower problem or a temperature issue.....or both..if the blower is not blowing properly the a/c cannot be properly charged!!!!!!

do not bring back to the idiot that you said worked on it the last time.....
