'98 lx 1.5l with a P0505 code

Engine seems to run fine, no fluctuations, although occasionally there is a bad hesitation on acceleration.
I know P0505 is idle control system malfunction. I ohmed out the IAC valve and got about 8 ohms. I checked the hoses and connectors going to the IAC valve and throttle body. Any suggestions?

Unplug the harness from the IAC valve and verify voltage to the left side of the harness when the key is on. Verify continuity from the right side of the harness to the PCM (under the console). Try cleaning your air flow sensor to take care of the acceleration problem. Clear the error and see if it comes back on.

12 volts is present on left side of harness. I don't know how to get at the pcm yet. I imagine I'll have to take the some the center unit apart to get at it. (I did try hitting the dash but that didn't help... jk) I looked at the air flow sensor and it looks clean but then I haven't seen a brand new one. How do you normally clean them?
Thanks
Dave

Re: '98 lx 1.5l with a P0505 code

I just checked the specification on the IAC and the resistance should be 10.7 to 12.3 ohm at 68F. Clean the little gates on the valve and test the resistance again. According to the manual, you should replace it if you're only getting 8 ohm. They're fairly expensive, so I'd check your reading again before replacing it.
