99 Sunfire GT...hard shifting

Hello Everyone,

99 Sunfire GT, automatic transmission, 290,000km. I have a loud clunk, shutter when I accelerate from a stopping position and the transmission switches from 1st to 2nd. Anyone have a similar problem or know what might be causing this? Thanks
Kevin

I would say the transmission might be pooched? Thats a lot of KMs on the car, my Cav Z24 has 178,000 KMs and its been through 4 motors and had to replace the Automatic transmission as well.

This problem only occurs once and awhile....otherwise the car shifts perfect. Its making me wonder if its a sensor or a timing issue perhaps? Any other thoughts?
