Re: who is your insurance with and how much do you pay?

You can't really go by other people. They usually base your rate by your age, location, distance driven, how often driven, where you work (or go to school), cost to replace the car, parts costs, credit score, driving record, and a boat load more factors.
I pay $17 a month for my '85 IROC with a multi car/policy discount and because I went so long without any claims/tickets etc etc etc...
I havent driven it for over a year, I just keep it insured for the discount on the truck and house...

Re: who is your insurance with and how much do you pay?

thats freakin cheap lol.
the cheapest i can find is allstate and thats 260 every 6, which works out to 43/mo.

then again, im 20, ive had one ticket, but its off the record i believe, and i took a defensive driving class.
it will be my first car to insure, and that probably raises the cost some

Re: who is your insurance with and how much do you pay?

I live in Massachusetts, the Pay state. Insurance here is ridiculous and most likely not reliable for what you can get elsewhere. It is about $500/yr for minimal insurance on a 79 firebird. Clean record for many years, 39 yrs old. Thing are supposedly changing soon, but we can only choose from about 6 companies, none are the major carriers you see/hear commercials for.

Re: who is your insurance with and how much do you pay?

I pay mine quarterly so every three months is $214 and the last payment of the year has a $15 service charge for not paying lump sum.
Thats for my '02 Silverado, the IROC and my dinosaur 750 Yamaha.
My house insurance is about $326 a year.

My insurance actually went down a little at 24, then bigger at 25. I got the "huge" reduction at 26. (like $40 to $45 quarterly). Then 27 it went down about like it did at 25. (maybe $14 quarterly??) and it slowly keeps going down quarterly ever since.

I thought I was going to get screwed 2 years ago. They wanted updated information, and my agent still had that I drove about 8,600 miles a year. I had to fill the form out and I figured up I drove over 33,000 miles a year...
They still lowered my rates....

I pay about $80 a month for full coverage on my car and that includes towing and the works.

Re: who is your insurance with and how much do you pay?

Keep in mind that any car that is over 30 years old is usually qualified for classic/antique insurance. However this limits the number of miles you can drive. Also if you have full coverage, you can reduce your rates by changeing thr deductible amounts. If your not in high traffic areas then your chance of having an accident are less and a higher deductible could save you more in the long run.

Re: who is your insurance with and how much do you pay?

well like i said, here in Va, for a 20yr old trying to insure an IROC, you are gonna pay.

500/yr is nothing.
try 500/6mo.

then again, i have a few years till the big discounts kick in.
right now, nationwide is the best though, and i will probably go with them.

one thing that i find funny is that the camaro is less to insure than my current car, which is an 84 caprice classic.
the caprice is $545/6mo on minimum coverage. thats with state farm on my parents policy. the camaro is looking at around 300/6mo.

anyone have any complaints with Nationwide?
if so, speak up or forever hold your peace... as it were...
