1986s15 conversion from 2.8 to 4.3 non vortec

I am wondering what i need to change in my lil truck to put a 4.3 non vortec in it to replace the now defunct 2.8 liter engine.
The truck has a five speed standard in it so i dunno if the same clutch was used in both the engines or not and if the fuel pumps are compatible.
Do i have to change intakes or exhaust manifolds and do i have to change the ecm to make it work ?
I went to the conversion sites and most of the info there is for conversion to small blocks and i would sooner put a 4.3 in it due to the price of gas here ( we are paying 5.50 a gallon presently).
i know the bell housing is different so will have to pick up one of those .
I am looking for a list of stuff so i can get all the stuff i need in advance before i start taking it apart and putting it together as my memory isnt what it once was and if i take something apart and do not put it right back together i seem to forget stuff.
I read at one site the wire harness may have to be changed but it doesnt really refer to which 4.3 thats for, the older ones or the vortecs.

There is no interchangeablity in any engine parts between the two, electronics harnesses and pcm all different, you should look for a donor truck here, say and 88-93 S10.

A 3.1 from a camaro will work. Just have to change the oil pan & intake. from your 2.8 to the 3.1 Everything else like accessories from the 2.8 will fit the 3.1 including the manifolds
