Question Programming Key Fob for 2000 Malibu...Is it possible to do yourself?

I have looked and looked and searched high and low and I can't find out how or if its even possible to do this yourself on a 2000 Malibu LS. I have seen posts for almost every year that came with the fob except for the 2000. Any help is greatly apreciated!

Re: Programming Key Fob for 2000 Malibu...Is it possible to do yourself?

-Close all the vehicle doors.
-Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Important: In order to successfully enter the keyless entry programming/diagnostic mode, you must complete steps 4-6 within 25 seconds of pressing the door unlock switch.
1. Press and hold the door unlock switch.

2. While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, insert and remove the ignition key twice. Do not rotate the ignition lock cylinder.

3. Insert the ignition key a third time leaving the key in the ignition lock cylinder. Keep the ignition in the LOCK position for the rest of the procedure.

4. Release the door lock switch. The chime will sound 3 chimes, which signals that the transmitter programming/diagnostic mode is active.

5. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time on the keyless entry transmitter for approximately 4 seconds. The chime will sound two times which signals that the transmitter has been programmed successfully.

6. Repeat step 5 for each of the four transmitters.

7. Perform either of the following final procedures:
• Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
• Remove the ignition key from the ignition switch.
