Evap leak (small)

1998 VW Golf GTi
2.0L I4
5spd manual trans.

My check engine light came on earlier this week. I checked the codes and it said that I have a small evap leak. My mechanic and I did a quick check and everything seemed ok. Cleared the codes and the car was good for a few days. The engine light came back on and presented the same code. I was wondering if there were any problems reported with this and some advice on how to fix this would be great. Thanks.
