Dakota Spark plugs

My Chrysler dealer's parts man tells me the plug Dodge specified for my 1998 Dakota, 3.9L V-6, 5 speed manual trans. is a Champion RC12LC4.

I see the local Pep Boys now has a Champion deal that after rebate gets you a Platinum plug for $ .99 each. Earlier posts in this forum have said both good and bad about Platinum plugs in that motor. Anyone care to offer opinions?

What else should a guy do in a Tune-up? Cap & rotor, wires? Truck has 72,000 on it and Carfax verifies that. I plan also to change all the fluids, filters, etc.
