Parts

Where is your favorite place for new replacement parts? Any particular brands for your chevy? any advice on retail stores or internet sites? Are any brands better than others for chevys? I am looking for all type of parts engine, and body, and not really trying to go to a junkyard. I would prefer new parts. I appreciate any recommendations. 2 door 84 caprice .... thanks

Re: Parts

You're not going to find new body parts these days ... I am not sure if there are aftermarket components still available or even available at all.

Engine parts, aftermarket parts that work good can be had from Edelbrock, COMP, etc. There are numerous aftermarket part companies that make excellent product. If you think about replacing the cam, only buy GM factory, or COMP lifters - shy away from everything else. Run Rotella-T diesel engine oil, or a good dino oil with antiwear additives (such as STP). Don't run synthetic oil with a new flat tappet cam.

Re: Parts

Well that depends on what body part you're looking for. I don't know if there's a size difference between the 2 door and 4 door in these areas but I have seen new "Direct Fit OE Replacement" as far as fenders, hoods, bumpers, bumper fillers. I've seen those on several websites. The main ones are carpartswholesale.com and partstrain.com.

A couple of great places to buy new parts for your car are www.rockauto.com and http://www.acdelco.com/index.jsp . I use a lot of A C Delco parts which is the OEM for GM. Both places have a large inventory and good prices. The A C Delco site has an online parts catalog and a search function which lets you input your zip code and see what stores in your area carry A C Delco parts. Some cities have a distribution center which serves dealerships and independent garages AND also sells retail. There you can usually get a better price on what you need than getting it from a GM dealer or other source.

I think i have come across rockauto parts website before. THey seemed pretty good. A little cheaper than the auto zone and dura sales around my way. However, Dura Sales has helped me greatly and all the guys that work in there are always willing and able to help and share their knowledge of cars. Im goin to try the rockauto parts as well.... ill keep yall posted. Thanks again for the help.
