stalling and error code

my 04 venture has been stalling occasionally during deceleration. I figured it was the fuel filter, so i changed it. Still is happening. My wife said she hit a pot hole today and it died for a sec, but then came back and she kept driving. So, I start er up, open the hood and tinker around where the fuse box is at. It dies. I check all the connections, and they look solid in that area, no corrosion. When I try to start the car, i get power, but it won't turnover, no clicks, nothing. It will however, give me 4 beeps after i turn the key to on.

after the beeps, it shows "CAL ERROR" on the radio.

any ideas?

thanks!
John

Re: stalling and error code

Nothing really helpful I'm afraid. There is a 'memory calibration' chip inside the ECM that is specific for each engine. When you change out the ECM you need to hold onto the old 'mem cal' and replace it into the new ECM.
It sounds like this chip has failed. Seems unlikely that's the case and you should look over the fuse block you were working around (its the one on the passenger front side in the engine compartment) for blown fuses, corroded wires, etc. Hopefully there is a power problem and you will find it there.

Re: stalling and error code

thanks for the suggestion! I ended up saying Mercy and had it towed to a shop. It was a corroded wire, which i thought. I just couldn't find it becuase i was "looking" for a corroded wire, not testing for it. Lesson Learned, just because a wire is corroded on the inside, doesn't mean it's corroded on the outside.
