Lowering questions

Hey guys... Can anyone explain to me the process of lowering my car? Like, what parts do I need, what needs to be done, and what do the parts do? (Shocks, Springs, Adjusters, etc...?) I'm still tryin to learn my share of stuff, and I'd like to get to know this part. Thanks!

It all depends on your budget. If you got cash and want to do it right,Get a full coil-over kit like Tein or Buddyclub. If you have a limited budget Get some reg. coil-overs and adjustable gas shocks. And if you have any left over get a camber kit too.

Alright, so what do those things do? A full coil over kit? And what will gas shocks do? And what do you mean by adjustable? It can be adjusted easily? Thanks!

Okay, a full coil-over kit are gas shocks with coilovers built on them. Basically a total package but expensive. You could buy coilovers seperate from the gas shocks which would be cheaper depending on what you buy. I never mentioned springs because I just love being able to lower and raise my car whenever I feel like it. You'd need shock's because when you lower on stock struts the ride quality sucks balls. Camber is kind of hard to explain on the comp. but here it goes . When you lower the top of your tires tilt into the wheel wells and fu**s up tire wear so to correct that you need the kit.

So if I get the full lowering kit, I would be able to lower/raise how easily? Push of a button? How much for that full kit, and how much for the individual parts? And I obviously have to get it done somewhere, right? I wouldn't wanna fuck it up! haha

For your car. I know it will be kind of pricey either way. I have a friend w/ a 2001 civic coupe and it wasn't that cheap. Oh and coilovers are easy to lower and raise but not " push of a button easy". I'd say do some research for a good price on these things.

1. Free - cut your springs (Oz does not recommend or endorse this. Don't sue me)

2. Very Inexpensive - If your not lowering much, just use lowered springs, but get a suspension specialist to make sure your shocks aren't resting on their bump stops.

3. Decent Job on a budget - Lowered shocks with different shocks or re-valved current shocks.

4. Getting Pricey - Gas Shocks and Lowering Springs

5. Coilovers and all the other things mentioned above (camber kits etc.)

yeah this post is way to broad... but I like lowering springs/adjustable shocks. Im lowering my car tomorrow with eibach sportline springs/KYB AGX adjustable springs. Coilovers would be cooler to have, but i heard they dont give you the best ride compared to springs. others will say differently though.

dumped hondas

well i saw all your posts here, and i threw some pep boys brand "coilovers" on my 00 civic coupe and it does ride like shit, took bumpstops off in rear because of clearance issues, friend helped me out and we did it all in about 3 hours, with use of his on-wall strut compressor, (love that thing) but no air tools, the apc (pep boys) springs ride like shit, i am looking at some agx shocks or tokicos but later on down line, camber kits are great, but some alignment shops wont touch lowered anythings, especially cuz some/all hondas dont have any camber adjustment, so i took to specialist aligner and he bent my front upper arms, and then put shims in between upper rear arm and body, my camber was -3 all around, now its perfect, dumped about 3" in front 3.5" in back, the alignment charged me 240 out the door, the springs were hot and 75, and the shocks are arond 300 for four, i wish i woulda known about the alignment before i lowered it, took a bunch off my tires, took like 2 months to find alignment shop just to look at my car... anyways, just letting u know about what i did, i dont know about those adjustable arms seen alot on ebay, ingalls spring and all that, try it see how it goes.. later

Re: dumped hondas

if your still using your stock shocks you should expect to have a good case of the hoppies

as far as getting the alignment done.. people will do anything for money :bandit:

for that price i would have bought a camber kit. just think now when you do change your shock you can bring it back to the alignment guy and pay another 3 bones to fix it again.. you shoulda just bought teins

P.S. don't tell people you bought HOT shit... makes you look like a thug..R U? and where is canoga park?
anyone missing some springs?

hey, started laughing when i read your post, far from thug, im a 18 yr old white kid that mom and dad hooked me with a 00 dx automatic civic, my friend worked at pep boys and he "acquired" the springs from "overstock" at "discounted" rates, canoga park is off 118 at topanga, off 101 at fallbrook, topanga, woodlake, or shoup and next to northridge, reseda, woodland hills, around there, so no one is missing springs, besides, pep boys wants 150 for those hoppie things, anyway, no no thugs over here, gotta go a couple miles east for that, and im in community college if that helps your perception, and a door to door salesman for a local newspaper, not a thug
later, ryan , and my names ryan, how many thugs are named ryan, cmon
